Dealerslink recently expanded into five southern states and added more than 100 new dealer members. That means all of our members nationwide, regardless of where they are located, now have access to even more used-vehicle inventory.
While many of our long-term members are very comfortable with the process of viewing and purchasing vehicles online, some of our newer members are getting acclimated to all of the features and nuances of our Dealerslink Marketplace.
Here are three tips for helping to ensure that you are purchasing clean used-car inventory online:
1. Check the dealer rating
Similar to other online resources like Yelp, TripAdvisor and DealerRater, our platform features the ability to rate other dealers. Although it doesn’t happen often, we have kicked out dealers who had low ratings and who did not abide by ethical guidelines. We consider ourselves part of the dealer community, and we take that responsibility very seriously.
2. Check the condition report
Let’s face it, customers know that not every used car or truck will be in pristine condition. In fact, some don’t even mind minor scratches and dings, and will still be happy as long as they believe they got a good deal. We recommend to our members that they carefully review the condition reports of any vehicles that catch their eye, so that there are no surprises when they make a purchase and receive delivery.
3. Ask questions
If you’re considering making a purchase but aren’t 100 percent certain, don’t be afraid to contact the seller directly. Ask specific questions. Ask for additional photos. You can even ask for a live walkaround on Facetime or other streaming platform, like Justin Henning of West Coast Auto Dealers occasionally does.
“Get put on the [Marketplace] system and just know your reputation on there is a huge factor of it,” said Henning in a recent interview. “But if you’re a good reputable dealer and you take care of other dealers along with your customers, it’s like doing anything good business. This is going to be a huge tool for you to have access to a billion dollars in inventory. I mean, who doesn’t want a billion dollars in inventory?”
Remember, Dealerslink doesn’t charge any buy or sell fees, so we’re not interested in pushing any specific vehicles on our members in order to make a commission.
